It’s not absurd to say that we are bound to laziness. From inventing the wheel and discovering the fire, to instant messaging, humans have been consistently trying to save energy and time. Following this trend, artificial intelligence is also supposed to make life easier, and tools like ChatGPT are making it easier to experiment its value in commonplace.
Of course it can be troublesome. Having a robot that can think for us is already messing up with school exams, social media posts, and evidencing some of the bad places technology can take us. Yet, AI has an interesting feature: it’s a system that thinks but it’s not human, which can be helpful to look at humankind from the outside (kind of) and provide some fresh perspectives that we often forget.
So that’s what I decided to do. I asked some questions to ChatGPT and it made me really proud to see how much Conversant has been helping organizations and leaders on creating the value that no robot will ever be able to. Below, I share three excerpts of a fun conversation. Each answer provided me with a powerful insight:
Me: What can only a human create that you cannot?
AI: A human being can create things that involve subjectivity, emotion, and creativity, such as art, music, poetry, humor, which can be difficult to replicate for artificial intelligence models like me. Additionally, humans are also capable of creating things based on their own personal experiences and beliefs, which may be unique and not replicable.
Insight #1: There is a unique value in being yourself. Literally.
I heard once: “You’re the last specimen of a species about to be extinct: yourself. Once you’re gone, the You species will have permanently disappeared from the planet”. Each person lives an original script and that should be enough for us to realize how worthy we are. At Conversant, we have the Conversation Meter, a tool that helps us move from Pretense to Sincerity to Accuracy to Authenticity in conversations. It’s in that last stage that this unique value is revealed, serving as the source of innovation, positive change and presence.
Me: what skills are exclusive to humans and what skills are exclusive to AI?
AI: Humans possess skills that are exclusive to them, such as:
Artificial Intelligence, on the other hand, possesses skills that are exclusive to it, such as:
It is important to note that AI systems are designed and trained by humans and they can only perform tasks that they have been programmed to do. So, the skills of AI systems are ultimately determined by their creators.
Insight #2: Empathy has an ever-increasing value
An AI chat tool is a beautiful source of learning and fun. But it will not hug or consulate you when in grief. Nor will it make you feel understood. All of these tasks are exclusive to humans. Either from a hormonal or spiritual standpoint, there is something in true human connection that makes things meaningful and fulfilling. If AI can bring speed and efficiency, then it should give us more time to take care of ourselves and of each other.
Me: What is the true power of love?
AI: The true power of love can be described as the ability to create strong and meaningful bonds with other people, promote well-being and happiness, inspire compassion and empathy, and motivate positive actions. Love can also be a unifying force that transcends cultural, political, and social differences, and can help build stronger and healthier communities. Additionally, love is considered one of the greatest human motivators and can inspire people to achieve great feats and reach important goals.
Insight #3: Let’s break the love taboo
The most complex challenges that we face as leaders can only be overcome with meaningful, strong bonds and everything that our AI friend described above. This is the hands-on, non-romantic kind of love that we have to bring into work. It goes beyond the heart emoji as it can actually be a source of energy and inspiration for people and organizations. Try to talk about love with your team from that perspective. When people are asked about what they love, it usually creates an energizing and goal oriented atmosphere.
